Everyone knows what blood types are, but do you know exactly what distinguishes the blood types besides their respective letters? Or what having a certain blood type might mean for your life?

You have probably been told what your blood type is at some point in your life. However, you have probably forgotten what it is. But, you have probably forgotten it for good reason – it really has no impact on your daily life. But according to Peter D’Adamo, in his most recent book “Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type”. Throughout his book, D’Adamo sites the works and experiments of biochemists and glycobiologists who have done extensive research on diets for each blood type.

What D’Adamo thinks is that each blood type has a specific diet that it prefers. Normally, you would think you have a choice over what it is what you want to eat, but they have found that your blood type might be making your mind up for you. Here are the 4 blood types and their 4 respective diets:

1) Blood O – The Hunter

D’Adamo recommends that those with this blood type eat a higher protein diet. Supposedly, this is the first blood type to have originated 30,000 years ago, although some research indicates that blood type A is actually the oldest.

2) Blood A – The Cultivator

They believe this blood type dates from the dawn of agriculture, 20,000 years ago. Individuals of this blood group prefer to eat a diet that emphasizes vegetables and is mostly free of red meat, the diet that is close to a vegetarian.

2) Blood Type B – The Nomad

D’Adama estimates that this blood type arrived 10,000 years ago. He thinks that this type is associate with a strong immune system and a flexible digestive system. He believes that people with this blood type are those that can thrive on dairy products. Although this is contradicted by some evidence.

4) Blood Type AB – The Enigma

D’Adama believes this is the most recently evolved blood type, and has arrived about 1000 years ago. For diet, he treats this group as an intermediate between blood types A and B.
